ACQUIRING TEACHING SKILLS TO MOTHERS ABOUT DAYTIME TOILET TRAINING

Abstract

General purpose of this study is to assess the effects of The Home Based Parent Education Program About Daytime Toilet Training in acquiring teaching skills of daytime toilet control to mothers who have a mentally retarded child. The design used in this study is “AB design” which is one of the single subject experimental designs. The subjects of this study are three of mothers of mentally handicapped children. To collect the data, family interview form, the recording forms of mother’s target behaviours, the forms of intervention reliability were used. All phases of the study were implemented at subjects’ home. At the end of the implementation of The Home Based Parent Education Program About Daytime Toilet Training, mothers involved in the study realized all the sub-objectives of the target skills of recording child’s urinates and applying the day time toilet training to their child. Data of the study were given in graphs and the graphs were qualitatively interpreted.
