ABSTRACT

In this study, investigating whole lessons found in the secondary teacher education non-thesis master’s degree program was aimed. It was intended to reach all the students that attended the program in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 (totally three semesters) with this study that was conducted by using the descriptive method. Two instruments, developed by the researchers, were used for data collection (theoretical and practical lessons were apart). At the end of each semester, questionnaires were used for all the lessons that were found in the program in that semester. According to the results, it was seen that the relationship of the academic staff with the students was positive in all lessons. Except two out of theoretical lessons, in nine lessons it was expressed that the lessons were conducted by students’ sharing the subjects and presenting one by one. As an assessment tool, it was seen that exam, presentation and homework were scored; however, it was also seen that students were willing to do homework and make presentations instead of exams. It was also witnessed that at least eight lesson observations were verified in three practical lessons; and during this time, academic staff seldom came to the practice school but students found that enough. Consequently, it is impossible to utter that secondary teacher education non-thesis master’s program lessons were conducted effectively and improvement is needed in several ways.
