ABSTRACT
This study aims at analyzing the social supports perceived by and
subjective well-being of students included in the Farabi Student
Exchange Program, which is an opportunity rendered by universities to
develop qualified individuals. The experiment group consisted of 70
students in the Farabi Exchange Program and 70 students who are not
included in the Farabi Exchange Program - 140 students in total -
studying in various departments of the Black Sea Technical University.
The Subjective Well-being Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale and
Personal Information Forms were used as measurement tools. SPSS 16.0
software was used in data analysis. The t test was also used in analysis of
the research data. Results have not revealed any difference between
university students in the Farabi Exchange Program and those not in the
Farabi Exchange Program in terms of their subjective well-being and the
social supports perceived. A significant difference was figured out
between male and female students included in the Farabi Exchange
Program in terms of their subjective well-being scores and social support
scores. No significant difference was found in subjective well-being
scores and social support scores between male and female students who
are not included in the Farabi Exchange Program. Findings were
discussed vis-à-vis the literature.
