TEACHER COMPETENCIES ACCORDING TO ICT INTEGRATION INTO THE TEACHING PROCESSES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT
ICT integration into the learning-teaching processes has major contributions
in terms of the studies of student learning, administration, monitoring
and evaluating. Although the integration process is a multi-faceted
process, it can be stated that teachers have a key role in this process.
Therefore in the study, in order to provide ICT integration into the
learning-teaching processes, improvement of both the competencies and
professional developments of teachers have been aimed. In the analysis
of teachers’ competencies, national and international studies were
taken as basis. UNESCO ICT Competency Standards for Teachers
Project, United Nations’ joint report related to the application
of Education and Teaching 2010 working program and National
Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) developed
by International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) were
taken as basis for international teachers’ competencies. Ministry
of National Education’s teacher competencies were taken as basis for
national teachers’ competencies. EBSCOhost and ISI-Web of Knowledge
databases had been used in reviewing process between the years of
2000 and 2011. The keywords "teacher competencies, technology
integration, professional development, teacher education" had been
used in the literature review process. At the end of the analyzing
