Abstract

In this study, some relevant details have been elaborated as related to the studies on the validity and reliability of recent "Peer Pressure Scale" development efforts. Peer Pressure Scale developed used to determine the peer pressure on adolescent. This study is executed in 2001- 2002 academic year on 208 4th term students in high schools. At the beginning of the study, 45 items were proposed and item-total and test-retest correlation coefficients were calculated. Based on analysis, insignificant items were discarded and factor analysis were carried out on the remaining 40 items in order to test structural validity. The result was a scale composed of 34 items which explained 40.527% of the total variance and 2 factors. It was found that the reliability of the scale, it was applied again after three weeks, and test- retest correlation coefficient were found to be .82. Cronbach alpha coefficients were also calculated .90 for the scale. Considering reliability and validity study results, it can be concluded that Peer Pressure Scale can be used for research purpose.
